Impromptu book test

Simple Preparation:

Add up the entire figures on a bank note, e.g. 62N551790 (which in this instance comes to 35). Crumple the note into a ball and place it handy in your pocket. Secretly glimpse the fifth word on the third line on page 35 in a book already in the room.

The trick:

Borrow a similar note and as soon as it is handed to you crumple it into a ball and SWITCH it for your own (which is now in your hand). This is easily accomplished by having your own note held loosely against the curled fingers in your right hand. Under cover of the crumpling motion, contrive to twist the position of the two notes, eventually bringing your own note to view (on doing this tell your friends you are trying to read the numbers on the note using your hand’s touch sense, lol).

The note then is handed to someone to place top of the book (if you can use the ‘Conjuror’s choice’ to have the book ‘selected’ from several, so much better (the conjuror’s choice principle will be discussed later in ‘Who will buy the drinks’ trick uploaded later).

Now ask the person to open the note and to add all the numbers together. He is instructed to turn the appropriate page in the book, count down the line and along it to arrive at the word. He is asked to remember it and close the book. You now (the great magician, lol) reveal the word in any way you desire.
